I would get your: mother checked out right away. Serum uric acid is never really helpful. The differential diagnosis for bilateral knees pain are broad, gout, pseudogout, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, etc. Less common will be septic joint arthritis, lyme, malignancy, etc. History and physical exam and joint tap are all essential. Hard to draw any conclusion without those.
