Define baby: newborns are quite susceptible to serious herpes infection. Babies, a bit older, often get herpes. by a young age everyone has been infected. If there are sores, antivirals work on it to prevent any serious consequence. If no sores, no serious disease.

Cold sore: Policy: avoid kissing w/ cold sore until gone.Always avoid lips/eyes. If scabbed risk is markedly diminished, most say nil. Herpes is infectious only when in contact with mucus membranes, lips, eyes, mouth, genitals, forehead not an issue. Herpes dies quickly, outside mucus mbrn. Would wipe the forehead area with wipes/ or soap. Call doc today discuss acyclovir if mucus mbr concern
