Unlikely: The HSV1 virus is spread from saliva into the other person's mouth. It is best not to have any oral contact with another person while a sore is present. If her sore had begun to dry up the amount of the virus in the sore was minimal. Keep breastfeeding as that gives your baby lots of protection against all sorts of infections!

Yes: Expect partial protection by hsv1 against hsv2. Most herpes on the face is hsv1 but a few are hsv2. Most herpes is actually transmitted by people who do not have a sore, but they have more viruses on their skin during an outbreak. Pills for herpes such as acyclovir and valacyclovir are very safe and very effective if used immediately. Most people get hsv1 sometime in childhood but never know it.
