Depends : Of course I will discourage any smoking as it inhibits healing :) but I would wait a few days as you want that blood clot to be set and not get accidentally removed during kissing or smoking and cause dry socket which is very painful and uncomfortable.

No smoking: If possible, this is the perfect time to curtail or quit smoking. Smoking will retard the healing of the socket and all other effects that you are aware of. Speak with your MD to begin a smoking cessation program. Good luck!
