Reflux & wheeze.: With GERD, especially with LPR, the refluxate can ascend from the esophagus into the pharynx, and then down into the airway causing inflammation and, eventually, a wheeze. It is possible, and we tend to see this in situations where optimal treatment for asthma is still not helping the breathing or wheezing. Anti-reflux medications would tend to help.
