Might not be strep: A lot of people can be colonized with strep and find it on tests without causing the symptoms. Usually it responds to antibiotics. However there are a lot of other causes for sore throat including allergies, viral infections, etc. See your PCP first.

Unlikely strep: The strep germ is universally killed by the penicillin group of drugs, so if you are being retreated bases on symptoms it is likely something else. Many viruses dominate the sore throat world. The worst I've seen have been mono, and that can take 3 wks to 3 months to settle down. If they swab you repeatedly and strep is there, you may just be a carrier, like 5%+ of the regular population.
