Elderly male patient has some kind of abdominal hernia, has constipation. could they be related? what kind of diet to relieve the constipation?

Unlikely: It is unlikely the hernia is causing constipation. If there is a hernia, and there is a question, he should have an evaluation by a general surgeon. Many diets for constipation, but the first step is to make sure he is well hydrated - 8 glasses of water per day. Hope this helps!
