Incarcerated Hernia: Hernias can cause bowel obstructions if a loop of intestine is "incarcerated" (stuck) within the hernia. In its most extreme form, it is associated w/vomiting & bloating--this is a surgical emergency. While the constipation may be unrelated, we have to assume it is until proven otherwise--please seek out surgical evaluation as soon as possible. Good luck.

Hernia: It is not "normal" but it can be related if the hernia is causing intermittent blockage of the colon or small intestine.

Maybe: While constipation can be due to a hernia, usually only if it contains the intestine, and usually only if that is the large intestine. Constipation has many other causes. And it may be difficult to say one way or another. Could see a general surgeon for a consultation to find out more.
