Not random: If you do have gout, the attacks are not really random, but also not always predictable. What happens is uric acid crystallizes in the soft tissues during an attack and this then can cause a rather severe inflmatory response from the body. Diet is just one factor that can affect uric acid levels and likelihood of an attack. Discuss fully treatment options with your doctor.
