Unlikely: Finger involvement is highly usually in the early stages of gout. In addition, if the finger is not red swollen and intensely painful then it is not gout.

It's possible.: Follow up with your dr and have your uric acid level checked. If it's elevated and your pain is gone, ask your dr if he would consider giving you allopurinol. Eating cherries may help. Avoid foods/drink that aggravate it - meat, seafood, legumes, nuts, spicy food, alcohol etc. Drink lots of water.Hope u feel better soon!

Gout: Is caused by to much uric acid and since you have had previous attack need your blood checked and placed on medication to reduce the uric acid. It is possible to get attack in hand but may be something else. See your doctor.
