A member asked:

I'm 39 weeks and baby has been moving more than normal. should i go into l &d or call first?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Call first: Increased movement will not normally require a visit to L&D, so definitely call before you decide to go in. An active baby is a pretty good indication that you are not in labor even if you are feeling contractions. DECREASED movement is a much greater concern although it must be a big change to be significant and it is not unusual for the baby to quiet down as contractions increase.
