Something new?: Question is cut off so I'm not sure if I'm answering correctly. An increase in mucus production is typical for asthma and for an exacerbation in particular. Although it may not be your typical symptom, this could be caused by an infection triggering new symptoms. Discuss with your physician because treatment for an asthma exacerbation may speed up recovery from the illness.
