A member asked:

Why do my ears/eardrum vibrate to certain sounds? for instance, when i tap a bowl with a metal spoon it makes my ears vibrate

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different things. : Well, the eardrums vibrate to any sound - it's integral to our ability to hear. If your ear itself is vibrating, it may match the resonant frequency of the metal spoon. Kind of like when the wall shakes to a bass drum sound. But if the eardrums didn't vibrate, you wouldn't hear at all.
