Can you tell if you destroyed cartlidge in your knee without getting it checked. what about bone to bone in the knee?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Knee pain: A good orthopedist or sports doctor can perform a series of maneuvers in the office to make an initial diagnosis. If it is a serious problem that requires intervention (arthroscopy, etc), then you will have an MRI before surgery so the surgeon can see exactly the problem. Bone-on-bone arthritis doesn't happen at 17 yo. Often knee strain will heal with rest and time, but if persistent, get checked.
