Pruritis: Generalized itching of skin without a rash can occur with excessive dryness of the skin but may be seen in conditions like allergies, liver or kidney disease, hyperthyroidism or diabetes. Your physician or dermatologist can order the appropriate tests if significant itching persists. Antihistamine medications can relieve pruritis.
