Very safe: No surgery is risk free, but cataract surgery today is almost that.

Extremely safe: Cataract surgery has evolved to become extremely safe, with successful outcomes. The more important question is why you have cataracts at your age. If there is no obvious reason, such as trauma or steroid use, i would suggest getting a second opinion before having surgery.
