A member asked:

Is 5year old child with colon polyp vulnerable to cancer especially if he don't have any family history?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to tell: Intestinal polyps are very variable and some increase your risk of cancer while some are benign. It is best to maintain follow up with your gastroenetrologist for a clarification of the nature of your sons's polyps, the doctors recommendation on the need for removal and your son's risk of intestinal cancer. It is reassuring that you do not know of a family history of GI polyps or cancer.
