With intelligence: Buffets have a variety of good and bad foods and are carefully arrayed so you fill your plate with filling, but nutritionally marginal items before you get to the better items. If you plan you trip through the line with intelligence and scan the whole line first to see what is there, then you eat with success and reasonable nutrition.

It depends...: There are many different buffets with many diff. types of food, so this depends on the quality of the food and what you choose to eat at the buffet. I advise not eating meats/eggs unless they're grass fed and/or organic and only advise wild seafood. The food at buffets is unlikely to be like that. While salads and vegetables are best if organic, eating non-organic now and then is OK. Moderation.
