Viral tonsillitis: It sometimes takes a week to 10 days for viral tonsillitis to disappear completely. Your doctors right-continue with fluids and rest. If your throat is still sore gargling with warm salt water can help or irrigating with warm water. If it continues more than another three or four days a blood test would be indicated. See your doctor for that.
