Hypomagnesemia: Although a few patients may be affected, hypomagnesemia is not a frequent side effect of PPIs, and even if the magnesium level does go down, it only rarely gets to the point that it produces actual symptoms. If you are concerned, lab testing is simple to do. Your other option is to stop the PPI for a while, and the level will quickly return to normal. Good luck.
