No: In general, varicoceles pose no health risks. They are simply dilated (varicose) veins and can cause aching discomfort at times, particularly when you are on your feet for long periods. In some cases, varicoceles may reduce sperm production from the involved testis. The two reasons to have it surgically corrected therefore would be pain or evidence of decreased fertility.
