Right Varicocele: Based on anatomical characteristics, a left sided varicocele is more common than a right sided one. The left gonadal vein drains anatomically higher, into the left renal vein. The right gonadal vein drains lower, into the ivc. Individuals with unilateral right (ie. Right side only) varicoceles should be assessed for causes of right gonadal vein compression.
