A member asked:

Can taking oral azithromacin help my dry eye and mgd ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Three cycles of Azithromycin 500mg for 3 days with 7days off after a cycle statistically improves the symptoms and appearance of posterior blepharitis (MGD), according to a study by Igami, TZ et al in Cornea 2011. The treatment however did not improve tearing score or corneal staining measurements. Of course treatment like this has to be carefully managed by an ophthalmologist.
