A member asked:

44year old female taking flexeril for arthritis in back, xanax (alprazolam) and zoloft for anxiety, and ambian for insomnia. is it ok to take them together?

No: That combination is a bit excessive to take together. Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) is a good drug but is of limited use if the muscle pain and spasm are chronic. The drug does not work for joint pain and arthritis. Please ask your main prescribing doctor about a better combination of stretching, exercise, and medications.

Please discuss this with your Primary Care Physician or Orthopedic Surgeon. For long-term pain please go to a pain management clinic for further diagnosis. You may need a sleep study to diagnose and treat your insomnia.
