A member asked:

I am using a pacifier for my 2 month old. sometimes if pacifier is not there in her mouth she sucks her lips and produces bubbles with saliva. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal behavior: This behavior generally represents the earliest self settling behavior a baby learns. The lips are supplied with a high density of nerve endings, and stimulating these is something baby can do/control early on. By doing so they aid their own comfort. Adults soak in a tub or read. The effect is similar.
