Normal behavior: This behavior generally represents the earliest self settling behavior a baby learns. The lips are supplied with a high density of nerve endings, and stimulating these is something baby can do/control early on. By doing so they aid their own comfort. Adults soak in a tub or read.The effect is similar.

R/o seizure activity: chewing and sucking and not being responsive could suggest infantile spasm.common at this age get this baby checked with a video eeg during the spells for diagnosis drooling and sucking is normal intermitantly.but if all three are happening in a consistent phase it needs to be checked
