Yesterday i noticed rapid knocking (like very soft light jack-hammer noise) in right ear. i've had that before when laying on ears on pillow. woke up with headache today (not terrible). normal brain mri two weeks ago. hopefully nothing serious?

A normal brain MRI: ...is reassuring. You may have dysfunction in the Eustachian tube, a tube that maintains equal pressure between the inner & middle ear and the outside world. Occasionally tiny air bubbles get trapped in the Eustachian tube, causing a popping or crackling sensation. If you get hearing loss, ringing in the ear or difficulty with balance, a more focused MRI to rule out acoustic neuroma can be done.
