Usually not: Most people do not notice any major difference between brand and generic medications, as the active ingredient is supposed to be the same. However, in my experience, I occasionally have a rare patient who perceives variable efficacy between the brand and generic or between different generics. In those cases, he/she requests that I write for the either the specific generic preferred or brand name.
