The price!: With very rare exceptions, the vast majority of generic drugs are every bit as good as the brand name. However, the brand name usually costs a whole lot more! the active medicine should be identical but there may be differences in the fillers and binders (most drugs have many ingredients besides the active medicine). Some people may tolerate one more than another due to these minor differences.

Primarily: The differences in the medicine is usually in the fillers and binders used. The amount of medicine (lexapro) is regulated an must be the same in each version of the medication.
