Stop & reassess: B"sd unusual for low dose propranolol - need to clarify the indication for the propranolol - most cases don't need it. Would be glad to discuss full details of diagnosis and therapy for hyperthryoidism

Dr. Stephen Perret

Pain is complicated!: There are several types of pain including nerve pain and muscle pain. Although they often feel the same to a patient, a doctor knows that trying to clarify the type of pain often points to a more helpful solution. Muscle relaxants are often more effective than pain killers and so can be more appropriate for certain types of pain.

What is the best steroid to heal a ucl hand injury and atrophied thumb muscle?

Dr. Joel McClurg

Won't work: While steroid injection may help with the symptoms of an ulnar collateral ligament injury they will not facilitate healing or improve outcome. High grade acute ucl injuries usually require repair, while chronic high grade injuries usually require reconstructions for joint stabilization. Rehabilitation after repair or reconstruction will usually help reverse muscle atrophy.

Rest: The most important thing to do initially is to rest the area affected. Icing and/or heat can be helpful and is a good secondary thing to do. Ultimately, strengthening is important to prevent the strain in the future.

Rest, heat, stretch: Muscular back pain usually results from overuse, poor positioning, and poor posture. As i sit here typing this response complaining of lower back muscle tightness, i reconfirm that simply improving one's posture is simple and very effective at relieving pain- i feel better already! gentle stretching and massage of the tight muscles in conjunction with the application of heat also helps.
