A member asked:

Recently, i've been experiencing some symptoms of hyperthyroidism (e.g. more palpitations, increased sweatiness, thinning hair, fatigue, muscle twitches, and finger tremor), do i have it? also, i am obese, and my aunt also has hyperthyroidism?

The cited symptoms are not specific to hyperthyroidism alone. Simple blood tests can confirm or exclude the diagnosis.

Perhaps you do have thyroid issues, but best way to know for sure is to have a thyroid profile test which should be readily available. Some of your symptoms might be due to alternative causes, so have your doctor sort this out.

Agree with Drs. F&M. Hyperthyroidism can be diagnosed with a blood test. Hyperthyroidism and obesity are usually not compatible.
