A member asked:

After 1protected sex, why some doctors tell me to retest at 12 months for hiv? i have (-)abbott 4gen combo on 1,3,4,5,6 months and (-) pcr on 4 months

It's the real world: If a person asks 10 doctors the same question, he won't get 10 identical questions. If the patient is a normal, regular guy, he listens to the majority opinion. If he is a worrier, he keeps thinking of the worse possible outcome, no matter how rare it might be. In reality, a person with one protected sexual exposure does not need special testing, but just annual screening if multiple sex partners.
