Wounds: Your skin inside your mouth is cut occasionally by the mechanical action of eating. Stiff/sharp food edges can scratch the wall , and the open scratches are noticeable because they expose nerve endings.The tissue also has mucous producing glands underneath and eating can crush their plumbing.If the gland cannot empty the mucous it creates a sac full that bulges out into the mouth until it ruptures
