Hip Bursitis: ( Trochanteric bursitis)is often treated with a steroid injection which generally takes 2-3 days for full effect! If he is going the 'Physical Therapy"route" a week to 10 days ( Treatment=ultrasound and passive HEAT etc) Hope this helps! Dr Z

Couple week: If the symptom persist more than couple week he should see his doctor for evaluation and treatment.
