Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine): is an effective but VERY POWERFUL drug and patients NEED CLOSE FOLLOW-UP including certain blood tests by the Prescribing Health Care Professional! IT IS HE/SHE who will require the number and frequency of these follow-up visits! This is to AVOID or DETECT EARLY unwelcome effects of the drug! Hope this helps! Dr Z
