If you definitely: have strep, you need to get treated with an antibiotic. There are longer term consequences for untreated strep, so you should find a way to get tested. If you have a sore throat and haven't been diagnosed with strep, you can try drinking a lot of fluids, and taking ibuprofen(Motrin or Advil) or acetaminophen(Tylenol) for the pain, but if not better, please get tested.

Pen is cheap: Penicillin costs just a couple dollars at several pharmacies. If ibuprofen doesn't work, consider seeing an online Doctor for possible cheap antibiotics. That is assuming you have symptoms of a bacterial infection rather than a virus.

1st Sx will pass: Strep throat goes through several phases. The acute symptoms will eventually fade in most without rx. During the sub-acute phase, the body continues to make antibodies and a fraction (1/200) develop long term complications including kidney damage, heart damage(rheumatic fever) and brain injury.Antibiotics can stop the complications if started within ~10 days of first fever.
