A member asked:

My 3 year old has been stuttering for a few months. mostly when he is excited. should i seek a speech therapist? what can i do to help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Be patient: Many go through a transient stuttering phase at that age.It lasts a few months and fades.Try to be patient with him and do not call him out/correct him or complete his sentences. Discuss this with your doc at any future visit and s/he can sample his speech patterns. Many school districts offer free "child find" services for 3 and older to look at speech issues.
