No: Often many colon and rectal cancer patients initially thought they had hemorrhoids because of symptoms such as rectal itching and rectal bleeding. If you are experiencing any new signs of rectal bleeding, no matter what your age, you should consult your doctor immediately. Colonoscopy to screen for cancer advised age 50 however may be sooner depending on individual risk factors and family history.

Not at all: Hemorrhoids are a completely separate entity than colon polyps and colon cancer. Hemorrhoids can bleed as can cancer so there is a crossover in the symptoms and that is why any rectal bleeding should be evaluated by your physician. That being said, hemorrhoids are not cancer and will not turn into cancer.
