Open sesame.....: Yes. Sesamoid injuries can be somewhat problematic. X-rays of the injured area as well as x-rays of the other foot's sesamoids are often taken to compare for normal variants in the size and number of bones. The underlying metatarsal will also need to be evaluated as well as potential damage to several tendons. I suggest you have the foot evaluated by an experienced specialist sooner than later.
