A member asked:

Some doctors say i need a tonsillectomy, some say no. i've had tonsil stones for over a year with bad breath and many sore throats. surgery? pros/cons

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2 treatments: there are 2 main schools of thoughts of treatments. Conservative treatment; salt water gargles, extraction of stones manually, and treatment of infections. Surgical; gets rid of the conservative treatments but has the added risk of bleeding. At some point you will need to make the choice.
