How do i explain my depression to my mother?

Explain depression: By clarifying what you expect her reactions & questions will be. If you're in therapy, invite her to a session. If you need information for her, find internet sites or books that explain depression in a way you like. Your question will be easier to answer if you can be more specific about your concerns.

2 general types: Generally there are two types of depression. The first is dysthymia, which is a chronic type of depression that varies little in intensity, and major depression, which varies in intensity a great deal. Talk to mom about what depression means to you, and if needed, get a psychiatric evaluation and talk about if meds are an option. Also ask for a referral to a reputable psychotherapist.
