Kidney stone: A kidney stone that hasn't started its descent down the ureter can cause months of pain. The pain is typically an aching pain and doesn't resemble the sharp and severe pain associated with passage down the ureter. After excluding other sources of pain, your urologist can discuss minimally invasive strategies to treat the stone.
