This is an older: antidepressant that seems to have more side effects than warranted, overall. It is good for sleep, and does have antidepressant properties, but its antianxiety effects are probably not as good as more modern meds (SSRI's). If the anxiety is part of the depression, then, yes, this med might lower it. Consult with a psychiatrist on this one.

More for depression.: Amitriptyline would not be expected to work well for anxiety. Depression, yes, but not anxiety. And it's fraught with side effects. Not worth it.
