Mechanical issue: Infants who have bronchiolitis/RSV will often wheeze intermittently with any respiratory virus for up to a year.This is thought to represent sensitivity/mechanical changes in the lung itself brought about by the original infection.Since 60-80% of infants who wheeze quit by age 5, trying to apply any label on this process is difficult.
