ACL Tear: If your injury is recent, within 2-3 weeks, knee pain and swelling is normal with an ACL injury. Popping can be related to the swelling in the knee. After 2-3 weeks of rest, the pain and swelling should diminish, along with the popping. I'm assuming you had an MRI. ACL tears can be associated with other knee injuries like meniscal tears and cartilage injury. Recommend MRI and eval by ortho surgeon
