Yes and no.: Under normal daily circumstances, reflux is more of an inconvenience than a danger, as it causes pains with certain foods and drinks, as you've seen. In the long term, though, it can cause changes in the esophagus that could lead to cancer, so surveillance endoscopic exams are needed to treat those areas that may be becoming precancerous.
