Possibly : In medicine nothing is 100% but if there were concerns on your barium swallow and endoscopy was recommended i would suggest you do it. There is no need to be anxious about it. I am assuming you had some symptoms that prompted the barium swallow so the endoscopy can help your physicians diagnose the problem.

Abnormal Esophagus: It sounds like you may have something hampering your upper GI tract, which might explain the throat sx. This could be a so-called "web" or an infection or growth, or something else. An endoscopy should be performed. Check with your gastroenterologist to see if you can delay the procedure until after your trip, but i would heed your doctor's advice on this.
