Ease into it.: You probably strained your neck by working too hard. Whenever returning to exercise after a hiatus, it is extremely important to gradually work into it day by day and to start each workout with a good stretch. Spend 10 min. stretching your neck in all directions until it feels loose. Take some ibuprofen and rest a few days. It should get better in 2-3 days.
