Otolaryngologist: Have an Otolaryngologist examine your mouth and throat carefully. You may be referred to a speech pathologist for a swallowing evaluation to see if there is a problem transferring food from your mouth to your pharynx and then into your esophagus. Your esophagus can be evaluated by a barium swallow examination, also. If needed techniques for swallowing problem are reviewed.
