Nsaids and non-nsaid: The most common over the counter pain medicines are Ibuprofen, naproxyn, aspirin (these are NSAIDS) and Tylenol (acetaminophen). In general any of these medicines can be used to treat pain. In general if you have a pain that does not go away it is a good idea to be evaluated again or feel free to get a second opinion.

Investigate: Constant, intense pain warrants investigation. I wouldn't suggest taking any med long term. If your workup is negative then you probable need physical treatment, not medication.
